Un dia de fa molts anys, el meu oncle em va regalar un estel molt gran, amb forces metres de corda perquè s’enlairés ben amunt. La meva mare, en veure’l, va reaccionar com cal. L’estel era més gran que jo i ella tenia por que se m’emportés com un ocell; el meu pare, seria l’encarregat de fer-lo volar des del terrat.

Però com que jo tenia deu anys, vaig fer el que no calia i d’amagat, vaig pujar al terrat. Per tal que cap veí tafaner no em veiés, vaig enfilar-me damunt el quartet on hi havien els dipòsits d’aigua i d’aquell lloc ben alt, l’estel es va enlairar al moment. La lògica de la meva mare es va fer realitat, doncs com més cordill donava, l’estel més estirava.  La por em va envair i va fer que deixes anar l’anella amb el cordill.

L’estel, va volar fins quedar entortolligat al parallamps de la torre de casa la “boja”. Era una torre antiga i en deien casa la “boja” perquè la pobra dona no va suportar perdre el pare i el marit durant el bombardeig dels avions italians a les ordres del franquisme.

La “boja”, va sortir en veure l’estel enrotllat al parallamps. Va mirar cap on jo era, ben espantat,  va aplaudir i em va enviar un petó. No se’m va ocórrer altra cosa que tornar-li el petó.

Vivia amb una noia que la cuidava i ningú més. Mai no va deslligar l’estel d’on havia quedat.  Jo pujava al terrat a veure si encara hi era i no entenia com ella sempre sortia  fent-me senyals i dient que volia volar amb mi dalt l’estel:  m’enviava petons i jo els tornava.

La meva mare, estava tant contenta que s’hagués perdut l’estel, que no s’adonava  que jo pujava molts cops al terrat a veure la “dona”, doncs mai més no vaig voler que ningú l’anomenés la “boja”.

Un dia, hi havia molt moviment al carrer de més amunt, amb ambulàncies i policia ; la gent deia que la “boja” s’havia tirat del terrat al carrer.

Vaig pujar al terrat.  L’estel encara hi era i va passar molt temps lligat al parallamps fins que la pluja i el vent se’l van endur.

Ella, volia volar amb mi, però ho va fer sola…
